Chapter 18 - Memoirs of a Time TravelerEdit

scene 1 - Guilty Until Proven Innocent

intro [in garden]

Alistair

We need to find out as much as we can about that blond woman.

And the only place we have to start is with interrogating Geoffrey.

[go to scene Catwalk Paradox]

part 1 [before scene]

Alistair

Clearly you and that woman have met before.

Geoffrey

But this is the only place I'd ever seen her before! Strange, though...last time it was not a paradox...

Geoffrey

I know I shouldn't have taken such liberties with use of the Time Machine.

Geoffrey

But it is my sworn duty as a knight of Camelot to assist damsels in need.

Geoffrey

Surely the Time Society has an obligation to assist those in need throughout time???

part 2 [after scene]

Alistair

I'm afraid you are wrong, Geoffrey.

Alistair

It is a strict rule of the Time Society to remain an observer of history, and never a participant.

Megan

Wait a second...why are we even telling you the top secret rules that govern our society?!

Geoffrey

But the lady was crying!

Geoffrey

I swear, I'd never betray the Time Society.

Geoffrey

Please, you must allow me to find my Eleanor and explain!

outro [back to garden]

Alistair

I know you like to see the best in people.

But I'd rather you not blindly defend Geoffrey until we've had time to thoroughly investigate.

chapter 18 scene 2 - The Wrong and Winding Road

intro [in garden]

Alistair

Lulu has volunteered to look after Geoffrey in New York until further notice.

We can't risk bringing him back to London until we know whose side he's on.

[go to London Groovy Flat]

part 1 [before scene]

Alistair

As fond as we've all grown of Geoffrey, at this point we cannot rule out the possibility that he's been plotting to gain our trust and sabotage us.

Megan

Poor Eleanor fell so hard and fast for his charm...it's no wonder she's disappeared into hiding!

Alistair

We'll deal with tracking down Eleanor later.

Alistair

For now, we need to reflect on our encounters with Geoffrey and whether there's been anything dodgy about him.

part 2 [after scene]

Quincy

I'm afraid we might all have been duped by Geoffrey.

Quincy

I didn't think this was relevant before, but...

Quincy

Well...in my recent trip to Camelot, my scans revealed that Geoffrey was making unauthorized trips there.

Alistair

Not relevant! Quincy, you should know better than to keep such information to yourself!

Quincy

  • Sigh* I'm sorry. I just thought Geoffrey was so well-intentioned that he must have had a good reason!

Alistair

You are to continue to investigate any possible connections between Geoffrey and that woman we encountered in New York.

Alistair

And you are to report EVERYTHING to me. Is that clear?

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

Please go with Quincy on this investigation.

Surely I can at least count on *you* to be forthcoming about anything the two of you find.

scene 3 - Twist and Doubt

intro [in garden]

Megan

Alistair thinks I'll be a distraction to Quincy.

So, I'm not permitted to follow along. You'll look after him, right?

[go to Merlin's Lab]

part 1 [before scene]

Quincy

Geoffrey was able to gain our trust by allowing us to use Merlin's equipment when our rift sensors were down.

Quincy

But what if he was the one who created those rifts to begin with?

Quincy

For once, I hope I am wrong. But I'll be able to test my theory by running some scans.

Quincy

Why don't you poke around in the meantime to see what you can find?

part 2 [after scene]

Quincy

Hmm...It's clear that many detection devices are present in this lab.

Quincy

But I'm not getting any readings that this equipment is capable of causing the rifts in Australia...or even right here in Camelot.

Quincy

Perhaps Geoffrey is innocent after all...

Quincy

...and has a perfectly reasonable explanation for how there are a suspicious number of clues connecting him to the culprit!

outro [back in garden]

Quincy

No time to dawdle, then!

In looking for evidence to prove Geoffrey's guilt, it's also possible we can prove his innocence!

scene 4 - The Side Walks of New York

intro [in garden]

Quincy

I'm on my way to ask Geoffrey some questions.

But I have a few more things to muddle about in my head first. I think I'll take one of those long city strolls and see if that helps...

[go to New York City Street]

part 1 [before scene]

Quincy

I'm already beginning to see that this was a mistake. I'm really not much of a city chap.

Quincy

Perhaps it is because I am a time traveler, but I can't say I care for the way everyone's in a hurry here. Bumping shoulders without so much as a--

Cleopatra

Oh my goodness! I'm so terribly sorry! How clumsy of me for stumbling into you like that.

Cleopatra

It's these silly shoes, I tell you. They never said style was meant to be easy, did they?

Quincy

Umm...

part 2 [after scene]

Cleopatra

Anyway, cutie pie, my apologies for bumping into you and all. You have a swell evening then!

Quincy

What the...!

Quincy

Was that...???

Quincy

I could have sworn that was our villainess! The one who knew about the Time Society?...Even though WE don't know who SHE is?

Quincy

Except this woman was...nice.

Quincy

If only I did not freeze in my tracks every time a strange woman spoke to me...I might have been able to get more information out of her....

outro [back in garden]

Quincy

Could I have just been imagining things???

Perhaps the years of tinkering with gears and such have knocked a few of my own screws loose!

scene 5 - Quincy's Head Revisited

intro [in garden]

Quincy

I suppose you ought to tag along.

At the very least, you can listen to me think aloud while I try to sort out all the scraps of data I've gathered.

[go to Sheriff's Office]

part 1 [before scene]

Quincy

I just can't imagine locking up Geoffrey like a criminal!

Quincy

Other than being downright noble fellows, don't knights have to take an oath on their lives to uphold the highest state of moral decorum?

Quincy

We're so focused on interrogating Geoffrey that we're losing sight of other leads in this investigation.

Quincy

After all, Richard hasn't exactly turned up to explain himself--Am I right?

part 2 [after scene]

Quincy

New York is such a big city, it's easy to confuse one passerby for another.

Quincy

And that woman on the street didn't seem at all like the sort to be diabolically plotting against the Time Society!

Quincy

At this point, I just don't know what to make of all that's happened. Do you???

outro [back in garden]

Quincy

I hate to suggest this about my own handiwork...

...but what if I was wrong about the Time Machine being fixed? Maybe our culprit isn't even in the States at all!

scene 6 - Tea for Too Many

intro [in garden]

Megan

We've tracked Eleanor to Feudal Japan.

Alistair thinks you have a knack for putting people at ease, so your new assignment is to retrieve her.

[go to Tea House]

part 1 [before scene]

Eleanor

Oh...hello.

Eleanor

I suppose you've come to collect me, haven't you?

Eleanor

I came here because I thought this quiet ritual of careful tea preparation would calm my nerves.

Eleanor

If you're going to be here, will you please show a little respect and keep your voice down?

part 2 [after scene]

Eleanor

I still feel like a fool but this tea really does have a remarkably soothing quality.

Cleopatra

Why, I'd love a good strong cup of tea! Eleanor, I never knew you made it this far east!

Cleopatra

You'd think a little lounging under the cherry blossoms would brighten up that face of yours...

Cleopatra

But I suppose you can't turn back the clock on what time does to one's skin, can you?

Eleanor

BUT HOW--

Eleanor

Whoever you are...just leave me alone, will you!

Cleopatra

Why isn't that just rude? She ran off before the tea ceremony finished!

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

You let Eleanor run off again?

No, I don't want to hear any of your excuses. We simply cannot have our Time Agents running about unattended in a time like this!

scene 7 - Northern Plights

intro [in garden]

Lulu

Leave it to an old knight to make dazzling NYC a bore!

I've been dying to get the latest from you about how Eleanor's handling all this! You'll keep looking for her, right?

[go to Aurora Borealis]

part 1 [before scene]

Richard

What are YOU doing here???

Richard

WAIT!

Richard

Look, it's truly not like me to plead, but after everything that's happened, I admit it's what I've been reduced to.

Richard

So, please...I beg of you, just listen to me for a moment before you run off to your fearless leader Alistair.

part 2 [after scene]

Richard

I know this doesn't look good, what with me creeping about in Caesar's old hideout.

Richard

I thought none of you would look for me here because, let's face it:

Richard

With all of time and space to choose from, what Londoner would choose a place colder than London to hide?

Richard

I've been trying to gather enough evidence to clear my name--and I am getting close.

Richard

Surely you can hold off on reporting to Alistair about this brief meeting for a little while longer, couldn't you?

Richard

PLEASE?

outro [back in garden]

Richard

I always knew you were the most reasonable of the lot.

I promise I'll have answers for you all soon. Just not quite yet.

scene 8 - The Sum of All Ears

intro [in garden]

Alistair

Geoffrey is insisting that we speak with you.

I know we get in the habit of talking over each other sometimes but surely you must know by now that vital information should be brought to my attention immediately.

[go to Tortuga Tavern]

part 1 [before scene]

Megan

I must say, with the use of the Time Machine at your disposal, you certainly have some...unique tastes when it comes to finding a quiet place to talk.

Alistair

But all poking fun aside, friend, let me remind you that if you have been bottling up any useful information...

Alistair

...you ought to make the rest of us aware of it.

Alistair

So, is there anything you'd like to tell us???

part 2 [after scene]

Megan

So let me get this straight. Geoffrey was, in fact, telling the truth about being innocent...

Alistair

He really was conned by this Patti woman into thinking she was in distress...

Megan

Then she tried to trick Quincy into thinking he'd never seen her before...

Alistair

...AND she managed to chase Eleanor away from you in Feudal Japan???

Alistair

Why didn't you speak up sooner???

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

This New Yorker is DEFINITELY who we're after.

Especially now that we're sure she knows the secret of time travel. Unfortunately, it's for this very reason that it will be all the more difficult to find her.

scene 9 - The Kid is All Right

intro [in garden]

Lulu

Now that we know Geoffrey is innocent...

...we need to bring him and Eleanor back together! I love happy endings! Hooray!

[go to Taj Mahal Paradox]

part 1 [before scene]

Lulu

I knew Geoffrey was innocent too, by the way.

Lulu

From the way he was yammering on and on and on in New York about how much he really cared about Eleanor.

Lulu

No guy can fake that much interest in a grouch like her!

Lulu

Whoa! What happened here???

Lulu

This pretty place has been torn into two!

part 2 [after scene]

Eleanor

  • Sniffle* I must confess...I was saving this place for a special trip with Geoffrey.

Eleanor

It's my favorite romantic place...And I suppose in my frustration, I ruined it.

Lulu

Eleanor! Eleanor! Geoffrey is innocent!

Lulu

And we know that nasty blond woman has been using time travel to get on your nerves!

Lulu

Oh Doll, I know you've been hurt before, what with your usual poor taste in men.

Lulu

But Geoffrey really does care about you!

Lulu

And everyone deserves at least *one* second chance...don't they?

outro [back in garden]

Eleanor

I never thought I'd say this...

...but Lulu is right. I should have listened to Geoffrey's side of the story before running away with nothing but my own conclusions. Oh dear, what have I done?

scene 10 - The Naming of the Shrew

intro [in garden]

Megan

Quick! It's an emergency!

The intruder detectors are off the charts at our new temporary office!

[go to Manhattan Office]

part 1 [before scene]

Eleanor

RICHARD WAKEFIELD--you scoundrel! It is high time you've decided to show your insufferable face.

Richard

Yes, well, I needed to speak with you all together, and I figured your shiny new headquarters would have all kinds of alarms that my presence would set off.

Alistair

And what is it that you have to say for yourself???

Richard

Look. I've been quietly tracking Cleopatra this whole time...until I saw that you lot had also managed to catch up with her here in New York.

Richard

And that's when I knew I was no longer doing myself any favors by trying to capture her on my own.

Richard

She used me. That's that. And nothing you say can make me feel more like a git about it than I already do.

part 2 [after scene]

Megan

...Wait, so that blond woman...Patti...is Cleopatra???

Richard

Patti???...You imbeciles!

Richard

Cleopatra fled Ancient Egypt and has been living in disguise in 1960 New York!

Richard

I thought you knew that when you came here!

Lulu

Golly! Who knew Cleopatra would have such great hair!

outro [back in garden]

Eleanor

Well that does explain it.

I mean, Cleopatra always was a power-hungry floozy but this is entirely out of hand. I'm ashamed I didn't recognize her sooner.

scene 11 - A Handful of Distrust

intro [in garden]

Eleanor

I'm going to try to reconcile with Geoffrey.

I feel so embarrassed saying this as a grown woman but would you mind coming along for moral support?

[go to Zen Garden]

part 1 [before scene]

Eleanor

I can't express how sorry I am...I've been hurt by others before, and I as a result it's hard for me to trust anyone with my heart.

Geoffrey

It is my fault for not being entirely forthcoming with you, my lady Eleanor.

Geoffrey

And I have made a great mistake in taking the word of another woman over yours. For this, I can do nothing more than beg your forgiveness.

Geoffrey

Eleanor, you are unlike any woman I have ever met in my time.

Geoffrey

But I wish you would stop doubting my love, for it causes me great pains that you would be so quick to accuse me of such severe wrongdoing.

part 2 [after scene]

Alistair

  • Ahem*

Alistair

I'm terribly sorry to interrupt but we need to regroup and come up with a plan for how to move forward.

Geoffrey

Alistair is correct. Eleanor and I should not let our private discussion take priority over going to battle against our deviant enemy.

Alistair

Richard has been on her trail for some time now.

Alistair

And I think this time he genuinely has a personal incentive to right this mess.

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

Be prepared for anything.

I'm not entirely warm to the idea of Richard leading us into a potentially dangerous chase either but--for now--we have little choice if we want to catch Cleopatra.

Chapter 19 - Richard's Grim TaleEdit

scene 1 - The Unsocial Network

intro [in garden]

Lulu

Let's celebrate!

Richard is on our side again! Even if Cleopatra is on the loose somewhere, now that we're back to being a team, I know we'll catch her eventually!

[go to Oktoberfest]

Lulu

What's the point of being a Time Society if we don't have time for a little societal soiree every once in a while???

Lulu

These streamers were already here so I didn't even have to do that much decorating!

part 2 [after scene]

Lulu

Three cheers for Richard!!!

Alistair

Actually, Lulu, if Richard hadn't allowed himself to be hoodwinked by Cleopatra, we wouldn't be in our current predicament to begin with.

Richard

  • Sigh* You all know how much I hate saying this, but Alistair is right.

Richard

It's my fault Cleopatra is wreaking havoc across time and I mean to set things right.

Richard

Umm...thank you for the party, Lulu...but I'm far from in the mood for jubilation.

Quincy

Very well then, I think I'd better double-check our equipment for any additional tampering.

Megan

I'd...umm...better go with Quincy.

Lulu

  • Humph!*

outro [back in garden]

Lulu

Everyone is so rude!

And Eleanor and Geoffrey were total no-shows! Don't they teach you manners when you learn all that knighting stuff?

scene 2 - Tender is the Knight

intro [in garden]

Alistair

I think Eleanor and Geoffrey are still in Japan.

I know they've needed some time to themselves but Eleanor really ought to be involved in strategizing our next move.

[go to Zen Garden]

part 1 [before scene]

Geoffrey

Looking back on my mistake, I feel so foolish to not have simply told the truth to you, beloved Eleanor.

Eleanor

Oh Geoffrey, you really must stop apologizing.

Eleanor

Let's just enjoy this beautiful garden together.

part 2 [after scene]

Geoffrey

I feared that my trips back to Camelot would imply that I would rather be spending time there than with you.

Geoffrey

And while that could not be more distant from the truth, I worried about leaving my trusty steed unattended.

Geoffrey

And thus, I returned to Camelot to care for him in secret.

Eleanor

Geoffrey, you have found it in your great heart to forgive me for wrongly accusing you.

Eleanor

Of course I am not upset that you were continuing to look after your horse!

Geoffrey

Then let us rejoice in our understanding of one another and vow to never conceal information from each other again!

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

Sounds like Eleanor is still preoccupied.

Has everyone forgotten that it is our duty to catch criminals like Cleopatra in a *timely* manner???

scene 3 - Richard Wakefield: Tomb Raider

intro [in garden]

Richard

I suppose I should start with some background information.

It's high time you learned the full story of my tryst with that Egyptian seductress.

[go to Egyptian Tomb]

part 1 [before scene]

Richard

This is where I first met her, you see. Right here in this tomb.

Richard

I was partaking in a little *excavation* to get ahead in the game of becoming a renowned Egyptologist...

Richard

And she had apparently sealed herself inside this tomb for a few days so everyone would believe her to be dead!

part 2 [after scene]

Richard

Having just learned that my involvement with Eleanor was coming to an end, I suppose I was susceptible to...a less conventional arrangement.

Richard

Obviously she spoke little English at the time...

Richard

...but communication did not seem to be an issue for Cleopatra and I.

Richard

We were both fluent in the language of passion!

Richard

And there was something about the musty darkness of this tomb that made us--

Alistair

Excuse me! Can we get on with the story a bit?

Alistair

Perhaps, to the information that is useful for sending Cleopatra back to this tomb for good???

outro [back in garden]

Richard

I can't say I've missed being nagged by Alistair.

Refreshing, though, to see that some things haven't changed since I've been away.

scene 4 - New York Second

intro [in garden]

Geoffrey

No need to worry about fetching us, friend.

Eleanor and I are on our way back to the new headquarters, to join our fellow colleagues.

[go to NYC Street Paradox]

part 1 [before scene]

Eleanor

Oh dear, another paradox. It's almost as if these things are following us around like a--

Cleopatra

Well hell's bells, if it isn't my favorite happy Time Society couple!

Cleopatra

You'd forget what a big city this is what with all these *coincidental* run-ins we've been having.

Cleopatra

I hear Richard's in town now, too! Isn't he just a peach?

Cleopatra

Though, a little too loud of a snorer for my tastes. You would know, too--wouldn't you, Ellie dear?

Cleopatra

Well, would you look at the time?...Toodles!

part 2 [after scene]

Geoffrey

Eleanor, my love...Why does this distasteful woman seem to indicate that you would know such personal details about Richard?

Eleanor

Oh...I...well...

Eleanor

I'm sorry, Geoffrey! I don't deserve you!

Geoffrey

Wait!!! Eleanor, you must come back!

outro [back in garden]

Geoffrey

I care very deeply for Eleanor....

But I fear there are times when I simply do not understand her! I still have much to learn about courting a modern woman.

scene 5 - Talk of Shame

intro [in garden]

Eleanor

I'm so ashamed!

I had hoped that Geoffrey would never learn of my former indiscretions. Please don't tell him where I've gone to hide.

[go to Mad Dog Saloon]

part 1 [before scene]

Eleanor

How dare you involve yourself in my personal life!

Eleanor

Your job is to preserve the flow of history. Not to meddle in the affairs of your superior!

Geoffrey

I thank you, friend, for your aid. Perhaps, however, you could leave Eleanor and myself to speak in private?

part 2 [after scene]

Eleanor

...And if I could go back in time to undo that wrenched mistake, I would.

Geoffrey

My lady, even if the laws of the Time Society did not forbid you from undoing your past actions in relation to Mr. Wakefield...

Geoffrey

It is the entirety of your actions, both good and bad, that make you the woman I know, and the woman I care so deeply about.

Geoffrey

And if anything in your past were to change, you would not be *my* Eleanor.

Geoffrey

Please, do not be so disparaging of yourself.

outro [back in garden]

Eleanor

Geoffrey is truly an extraordinary man.

And I'm happy I don't have to keep secrets from him. But next time, do try to stay out of my personal life. Are we clear?

scene 6 - A Costly Ride

intro [in garden]

Lulu

Where have you been, Honey Bunches?

It turns out that Richard is almost as good of a storyteller as I am!

[go to Italian Carriage]

part 1 [before scene]

Richard

It wasn't long before the tomb got a bit too stuffy for both our tastes.

Richard

Since Cleo's people presumed her dead anyway, I figured that plucking her out of her time would cause minimal harm.

Alistair

That was highly irresponsible of you, Richard!

Richard

Why thank you, Alistair. Are there any other statements of the complete obvious that you'd like to announce to the group?

Alistair

Why you...!!!

Lulu

Hey, no fighting!

part 2 [after scene]

Richard

Yes, just because I don't recite the Time Society Laws in my head two dozen times per day like *someone else*...

Richard

...does not mean I did not take them into slight consideration.

Richard

But I surmised that traveling with Cleopatra to a cozy, secluded carriage ride would have no impact at all on the flow of history.

Alistair

Curses, Richard!!! Could you possibly be more careless?

outro [back in garden]

Lulu

As much as I love a scandal...

I'm not getting my dress wrinkled in a scuffle between those two. Let's just sit this one out, right Dearie?

scene 7 - A Loyal Pain

intro [in garden]

Eleanor

Apparently Alistair needs some time to simmer down.

You seem to be capable of communicating with that Richard buffoon, so please go along with him.

[go to Neuschwanstein Castle]

part 1 [before scene]

Geoffrey

What a magnificent castle! How I wish I could share such an architectural marvel with my people.

Geoffrey

Though we may face great dangers in this battle across time, I do not cease to be grateful to be a time traveler!

Richard

A part of me wishes that Cleopatra had been as easy to impress as this clod...

part 2 [after scene]

Richard

Eventually my Cleo's desire for the sights became more challenging to appease.

Richard

I brought her to many magnificent palaces but still she demanded to travel to more.

Richard

I obliged, initially because I found it so refreshing to be with a woman who seemingly appreciated me...

Richard

AND a woman who was actually in awe of my profession instead of taking it for granted.

Geoffrey

I encourage you, Richard, to take care not to speak ill of those who uphold proper protocol.

Geoffrey

If you are referring to my Eleanor, I strongly recommend that you cease this line of conversation.

outro [back in garden]

Richard

I don't know why you thought bringing Geoffrey along was a good idea.

The last thing I need at the moment is another one of Eleanor's goons telling me things I already know.

scene 8 - The Lady Vanished

intro [in garden]

Megan

Quincy asked me to tag along with you for a bit.

I think he's working on a surprise for me! You don't happen to know what it is, do you?

[go to Varanasi]

part 1 [before scene]

Richard

Ah, nice to see that you at least brought someone pleasant for the eyes this time.

Megan

Okay, Richard. What tale of poor decision-making do you have to regale us with this time?

Richard

  • Sigh* This could get embarrassing...

part 2 [after scene]

Richard

...So, I was readying the boat for a sunset cruise with hands trembling in anticipation of professing my love to her...

Richard

And when I returned back to these steps where I'd left her waiting, she was gone.

Megan

Oh dear!

Richard

I swear to you, I searched for her. How could I not?

Richard

I was in denial that she had all this while been learning how to time travel so she could do it without me.

Richard

But, of course, she did not want to be found.

Richard

And by then she had learned how to make sure she wasn't.

outro [back in garden]

Megan

I actually feel sorry for Richard now.

I suppose I have been wondering how his whole Cleopatra debacle came into fruition. Love does make us do reckless things sometimes.

scene 9 - Worrying Heights

intro [in garden]

Alistair

Yes, I'm quite alright, thank you.

Richard always has a keen knack for setting me off, even when he does intend to be a part of the solution eventually.

[go to Ocean Road Paradox]

part 1 [before scene]

Alistair

I'll be honest, though. I have had a lot on my mind.

Alistair

We may know that Cleopatra has been the culprit behind all those odd time rifts but that doesn't tell us anything about her endgame.

Alistair

She used Richard to harness the secret of time travel.

Alistair

But what does she mean to do with it???

part 2 [after scene]

Alistair

I haven't the faintest clue, either. And this frightens me greatly.

Alistair

Of course there is the usual ruler-of-the-universe business that Caesar led us to believe he was en route towards...

Alistair

But I can't help but wonder if there is an even greater challenge for us to face as we see these events unfurl...

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

One more thing to worry about.

Places with known rift activity keep turning into paradoxes. That's never a good sign.

scene 10 - The Miserable One

intro [in garden]

Richard

It seems that everyone's lost interest in my tale besides yourself.

Don't they understand that a little background information is necessary for catching a crook?

[go to Paris Palace]

part 1 [before scene]

Richard

I suppose you have not forgotten that I was in quite a rotten state the last time you and I were here.

Richard

At that point, I had just begun to accept how I'd pathetically been fooled by Cleopatra.

Richard

And I was still trying to deny to myself that she was behind all those rifts you were investigating.

Richard

Go ahead and say it. I was wrong.

part 1 [after scene]

Richard

I guess after you left, I truly realized how alone I was.

Richard

And how taking the liberties that I had with being a Time Agent had done nothing for my happiness.

Richard

I do mean to set things right but admittedly I've come to accept I can't do it alone.

Richard

Will you help?

outro [back in garden]

Richard

I'm glad it was just you there.

If anyone else had the satisfaction of seeing me in this pathetic state, I'm sure I'd never have a chance at regaining my pride.

scene 11 - Catch Her in the Rhine

intro [in garden]

Richard

Where is that old sod Alistair anyway?

He better not have been spending all this while ironing his night shirts if he's going to lecture *me* about poor time management.

[go to Rothenburg]

part 1 [before scene]

Alistair

This town is rather lovely, isn't it? Especially when everyone has gone off to the countryside for some beverage-related spectacle.

Alistair

Nice and quiet--

Cleopatra

Well, how do you do, Alistair?! I see you've stepped away from the party for some fresh air as well. How swell!

Alistair

Cleopatra! I demand that you turn yourself in at once!

Cleopatra

Come now, Alistair, no need to be so bitter. This is a time for celebration!

part 2 [after scene]

Cleopatra

How about you and I throw caution to the wind for a few hours and just get to know each other a little better...?

Alistair

Though I usually keep personal matters separate from work...

Alistair

I will say that a scheming little tart such as yourself is by far the opposite of something that would tempt me.

Alistair

Your charms may have worked on Richard but I assure you the only thing I'm interested in getting to know...

Alistair

...is how quickly I can lock you back in your proper place in time.

Cleopatra

Well if you're going to be that way, then I think I'll seek some friendlier company.

Alistair

Blast!

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

She got away again!

We need to figure out a plan. And soon.

Chapter 20 - Pinoy NoirEdit

scene 1 - A Hello to Arms

intro [in garden]

Alistair

I've received information from one of my more useful informants.

Cleopatra has been spotted in the middle of a battlefield! Is it possible that she is getting sloppy...or simply arrogant?

[go to French Battlefield Paradox]

part 1 [before scene]

Cleopatra

Why, how do you do again!

Cleopatra

Some bash, isn't this?

Cleopatra

Where I came from, people were throwing stones and sticks at one another.

Cleopatra

It was positively primitive!

Cleopatra

But here! It's so easy to create explosions!

Cleopatra

And stop enemies dead in their tracks with these *gun* things!

part 2 [after scene]

Cleopatra

My, what the difference just under two millennia will make!

Cleopatra

Well, it's been swell. But I better be getting back home...before the smell of smoke gets into my hair!

Cleopatra

And just so we're clear, by *home*, I mean Manhattan.

Cleopatra

Because there's NO WAY I'm going back to that disgusting, stuffy, old tomb.

Cleopatra

Au revoir!

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

I don't know what she's been plotting...

But if you say she expressed a deep interest in weaponry and advancements in combat, I don't feel good about it at all.

scene 2 - Empress's State of Mind

intro [in garden]

Megan

I'm getting quite worried.

Alistair loves configuring plans. Even gets obsessive about it. So why hasn't he come up with a plan yet for catching Cleopatra?

[go to Manhattan Office]

part 1 [before scene]

Alistair

We have reason to believe that Cleopatra has taken a fascination to firearms.

Alistair

I'm sure I don't need to explain why such things in the hands of an ancient ruler can lead to a plethora of bad outcomes.

Geoffrey

I'm terribly sorry to interrupt, Alistair...but could I trouble you to clarify what a fire-arm might be?

Richard

...

part 2 [after scene]

Alistair

Richard, we've wasted enough time listening to your tale of woe.

Richard

Well Alistair, it just so happens that while you were busy polishing your muskets...

Richard

I've booby-trapped all the places that I'd taken Cleopatra before and--

Alistair

I think it's quite obvious, Richard, that Cleopatra's understanding of time travel has far exceeded that of a simple walk down memory lane!

Alistair

We've encountered her in Japan, Germany, and France.

Alistair

I think it's safe to assume she hasn't merely contented herself to settling down as a Manhattan housewife.

Alistair

Don't any of you have any better ideas???

outro [back in garden]

Quincy

We're all worried about what to do with Cleopatra.

But I'm also a little worried about Alistair. It's not often he loses his temper.

scene 3 - Meet, Drink, and Be Wary

intro [in garden]

Megan

Richard's asked me to meet with him.

Quincy is coming, of course, but I can't say I would mind a little extra company from you as well.

[go to Tortuga Tavern]

part 1 [before scene]

Megan

What are we doing here, Richard?

Richard

I know your *boyfriend* doesn't like talking about it...but the rest of us haven't forgotten a time when you went undercover to gain Caesar's trust.

Richard

Just as well, I can convince Cleopatra that I've turned on the Time Society.

Richard

Renounced my loyalties in favor of choosing to be with the woman I love, perhaps?

Richard

In doing so, we can entrap her just as we were able to put Caesar back in his proper place!

part 2 [after scene]

Richard

Why struggle to come up with new ideas when the old one would work just as well?

Quincy

And just how do we know that you aren't using this as an opportunity to get back into the good graces of the woman you've become obsessed with?

Quincy

Or, how do we know that in the presence of that temptress you won't very well renounce your loyalties to us?

Quincy

Megan is a woman of integrity, and someone the Time Society could trust as an undercover Agent.

Quincy

I know we were once mates, Richard, but it will require time for me to be able to fully trust you again.

outro [back in garden]

Quincy

You don't think I was too harsh, was I?

It's really not like me to be so unpleasant. I think we're all just experiencing a heavy bout of stress right now.

scene 4 - Lulu and the Giant Parade

intro [in garden]

Lulu

Come on, come on, slowpoke!

I've found another party, and it's HUGE. Richard will be feeling better in a jiffy!

[go to Higantes Festival]

part 1 [before scene]

Lulu

Everyone loves a giant parade, right, Richard?

Richard

Really, Lulu, I'm rotten company for a festival right now.

Richard

Will you please stop trying to lift my spirits???

Lulu

But--!

part 2 [after scene]

Lulu

Oh dear.

Lulu

Why doesn't Richard realize that a little dash of optimism helps get the job done better?

Lulu

We all make mistakes, but isn't that how we learn and stuff?

Lulu

Instead, everyone's foul mood is starting to bring me down.

Lulu

And that's not very fun at all.

outro [back in garden]

Lulu

I think I'll go plant some orchids.

At least I know I can always turn to gardening to cheer myself up. If only everyone could grow some instant cheer for themselves like I do.

scene 5 - Running with Caesars

intro [in garden]

Quincy

The solution is not as simple as Richard thinks.

If he'd paid a little more attention to Megan's debriefing statement, he'd understand why capturing Cleopatra won't be as simple as resolving our Caesar problem.

[go to London Clock Tower Desk]

part 1 [before scene]

Quincy

Richard's got it all wrong.

Quincy

The Caesar that Megan was able to undermine was not the real Caesar at all.

Quincy

As a matter of fact, he was quite plainly a very strong force field of temporal data...

Quincy

... being conducted by an immeasurably high-magnitude energy source!

part 2 [after scene]

Quincy

Without boring you too much with the details, think of the Caesar we captured as an alternate-timeline Caesar, so to speak.

Quincy

Because we wiped this projection out of time, it's like it never existed and all of history as we know it remains the same.

Quincy

But Cleopatra is different, you see.

Quincy

She's the real Cleopatra. Plucked right out of history when everyone in her timeline presumed her dead.

outro [back in garden]

Quincy

To be entirely honest...

...the way Cleopatra fled from her timeline wouldn't affect the flow of history much...were it not for the fact that she seems to be up to something treacherous.

scene 6 - War of the Words

intro [in garden]

Eleanor

Quincy's still trying to get a lock on Cleopatra's time signature.

He's given us some coordinates to investigate. If she's there, we'll need to try to stall her for as long as possible.

[go to Captain's Quarters]

part 1 [before scene]

Eleanor

Now then, you ancient harlot, its time to end your fickle hopping from bedchamber to bedchamber...

Eleanor

...and settle down into a nice, solid sarcophagus!

Cleopatra

Eleanor, dearest, are you sure you want to expose your hair to this harsh sea air???

Cleopatra

It's already looking so very shabby--

Eleanor

How DARE you!

part 2 [after scene]

Eleanor

Enough of the shallow insults, Cleopatra.

Eleanor

We demand to know exactly what it is that you've been plotting over your little holiday through time and space.

Cleopatra

I really don't know what all the hullabaloo is about with you Time Agents.

Cleopatra

All I ever wanted was to see the world beyond my little speck of a kingdom.

Cleopatra

After I've seen the world, I'll settle down and live like a regular person in the Big Apple. Promise!

Cleopatra

And the less I am bothered by your little gang, the sooner I'll be able to complete my little sight-seeing tour.

Cleopatra

So if you'll excuse me...

outro [back in garden]

Quincy

Curses! That wasn't long enough to lock onto her time signature.

We'll have to keep trying, though. If we can't catch Cleopatra, at least we can hope to monitor her. And thwart any potential disasters caused by her presence.

scene 7 - The Stable Guy

intro [in garden]

Geoffrey

I have an important question to ask my beloved Eleanor!

Would you be so kind as to set the horses in order while I tend to my personal affairs?

[go to Steed Stables]

Geoffrey

My Eleanor, you know how grateful I am that--despite the constraints of time and space--we found each other.

Geoffrey

So, there is something I have been meaning to ask you.

Eleanor

Yes?

Geoffrey

I've been turning about this notion in my head for a great while now and, well, the present moment feels like the right one to consult you.

Eleanor

Yes???

Geoffrey

My question is the following:

Geoffrey

How is your inviting me to travel with the Time Society any different from Richard's accursed actions regarding Cleopatra?

Eleanor

Oh...that's what you wanted to ask me. I see.

Geoffrey

I understand I never underwent a proper induction process, and yet I have been permitted to abandon my proper place in time to be with you.

Eleanor

Oh. Well, what it really amounts to is that I have been given authorization by the Time Society to make such judgment calls.

Eleanor

Clearly I am a good judge of character while Richard is selfish and irresponsible.

Eleanor

Additionally, Geoffrey, you've been invaluable to *the team*!

Geoffrey

Umm...yes, of course! I try my best to be of assistance to the Time Society in any way I can!

outro [back in garden]

Geoffrey

I suppose I understand now.

But between the two of us, I still can't help but feel slightly out of sorts when I think about my place in the Time Society.

scene 8 - Alistair's Train of Thought

intro [in garden]

Alistair

I know you're inclined to be sympathetic towards Richard.

You've always had a soft spot for hopeless romantics. I can tell.

[go to Great Train Robbery]

part 1 [before scene]

Alistair

What you must keep in mind is that if I don't keep things in stringent order within our little regimen...

Alistair

...then things could fall apart even beyond their current dilapidated state.

Alistair

I know I have been allowing my temper to get out of hand as of late.

Alistair

It is just that the sooner we can resolve this whole Cleopatra debacle, the sooner our Society can return more pleasant times.

part 2 [after scene]

Alistair

Eleanor used to bear the brunt of corralling our Agents and other personnel management duties.

Alistair

She had developed quite a tough skin for it, as you've surely witnessed!

Alistair

I know Eleanor deserves the happiness she's found with Geoffrey...

Alistair

...but I'm a little surprised that she's permitted herself a noticeable performance decline in favor of spending time with him.

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

I didn't mean to be all complaints around you.

I'm just feeling a little bit worn of late. But sometimes nice, long, American train rides are just what I need.

scene 9 - The Island of Misfit Agents

intro [in garden]

Lulu

This gal doesn't give up *that* easily!

I've decided that I'm not going to let everyone else's gloom get to me. Now, are you coming or are you just going to sulk uselessly like everyone else?

[go to Easter Island Paradox]

part 1 [before scene]

Lulu

Well it's no wonder you're so glum, Richard!

Lulu

You've been surrounding yourself with such long faces!

Richard

  • Sigh* There's just no way of hiding away from your sunshine--is there, Lulu?

Richard

Well, since you're here, you might as well help me mend this paradox, right kid?

part 2 [after scene]

Richard

Great! Wow, fixing that paradox really lifted my spirits!

Richard

Now wouldn't it be great idea if you left me alone???

Lulu

Come on, Richard. Alistair just needs to be a meanie because he thinks that's how he can do his job right.

Lulu

Deep down inside, though, I bet he knows that you are trying your best to help!

Lulu

But you won't be able to fix things if you just keep moping around on remote and lonely islands like this one.

outro [back in garden]

Richard

The kid has a lot of heart.

I'll give her that. Maybe a little lackluster in the room upstairs, but definitely plenty of heart. I hope she always stays that way.

scene 10 - Rolling in the Jeep

intro [in garden]

Lulu

I think Richard wants my help after all!

You should come. That way you'll see just how right I have been about him all along.

[go to Manila Jeepney]

part 1 [before scene]

Lulu

I got your message, Richard! What's crackin'?

Richard

Lulu, I know we haven't always found common ground amidst our work in the Time Society...

Richard

But the fact that you were willing to travel to less sparkly places to hunt me down tells me you're really beginning to take this job seriously.

Richard

So to make up for the sourpuss I've been around you lately, I've brought you to this colorful street in the 1980s!

part 2 [after scene]

Lulu

Oh. Umm...thanks Richard!

Lulu

But, just wondering, hyperthetically, of course, what made you think I wanted to go to the 80s???

Richard

  • Hypothetically* I just thought you'd be amused by the wacky colors! Aren't you?

Lulu

Umm...yup! I do love color! So anyway, was there something else you wanted to talk about?

Richard

Yes, in fact! How would you like to spend a little extra time living the good life in New York?

Richard

Getting the scoop on the who's who?

Richard

Maybe you could befriend a certain new socialite and find out where she's taken residence?

Lulu

Oh, I get it! You want me to snoop out Cleopatra's New York hideout!

Lulu

Of course I can help!

outro [back in garden]

Lulu

By the way. I didn't want to hurt Richard's feelings...

...but I'm not wild about the 80s. It's the hair. And the shoulder pads. Although, the music was pretty rocking...

Chapter 21 - Time Agents & The Temple of DoomEdit

scene 1 - Snakes on a Plain

intro [in garden]

Alistair

First it was a 19th century French battlefield...

...and now Cleopatra's been sighted near the Avenue of the Dead. This can't bode well.

[go to Pyramid Of The Moon]

part 1

Cleopatra

Don't you folks have some time debris to sweep?

part 2

Eleanor

I must say I am surprised to see you here, considering archeology isn't exactly the most glamorous of pursuits.

part 3

Cleopatra

And that off-the-shoulder look isn't exactly the most glamorous either but I wasn't going to say anything...

part 2 [after scene]

Geoffrey

Certainly your journey here serves some vile purpose other than insulting us.

Cleopatra

Well if you must know, I was getting a little homesick for pyramids.

Cleopatra

But rather than head back to dusty old Ancient Egypt, I thought I'd see what architecture other parts of the world had to offer!

Cleopatra

Though I must say, I am starting to regret that choice.

Cleopatra

These mere copycats are inferior to the pyramids *I* am used to.

Cleopatra

And this whole place...There are these disgusting snakes everywhere!

Cleopatra

Snakes! Why did it have to be snakes???

Cleopatra

You two can stay for as long as you'd like but I'm getting out of here.

outro [back in garden]

Eleanor

Don't trust that woman.

I doubt someone as malicious as she could ever feel homesick. She must be up to something.

scene 2 - There May Be Blood

intro [in garden]

Richard

There's a paradox we need to resolve, apparently.

You go on ahead and I'll join you shortly.

[go to Great Train Robbery Paradox]

part 1 [before scene]

Cleopatra

Oh--how disappointing. It's the quiet one.

Cleopatra

I was hoping I might find Alistair here.

Cleopatra

I wanted to have a little chat with him, you see.

Cleopatra

But since he isn't here to negotiate any terms of his own, you'll just have to pass mine back to him.

Cleopatra

So tell Alistair that if your little Society doesn't back off, I'm going to make you all regret it.

part 2 [after scene]

Richard

Cleo???

Cleopatra

Well how do you do, Dick!

Cleopatra

I'm surprised you haven't been stalking me more avidly than you have been.

Richard

I...umm...

Cleopatra

Does that mean you've finally learned to accept that we're over?

Cleopatra

Because if abandoning you by that pathetic boat in the sunset wasn't clear enough...

Cleopatra

WE'RE OVER.

outro [back in garden]

Richard

I...I'm going to need a little time to myself.

And no, there's nothing you can do to help.

scene 3 - The Vignette Underground

intro [in garden]

Alistair

There's no need to continue tiptoeing around me.

I know that Lulu is playing undercover socialite in New York and that it was Richard's idea.

[go to Coober Pedy Study]

part 1 [before scene]

Alistair

I'm not entirely pleased that those two concocted this notion without me.

Alistair

And frankly, any dangerous task being placed in the hands to the Time Society's two least reliable members...

Alistair

Well, it's not the most reassuring sort of situation, now is it?

part 2 [after scene]

Alistair

But despite my reservations, I must say that their plan is better than no plan.

Alistair

Despite her foolish quirks, Lulu is quite clever at nabbing information.

Alistair

And I am relieved that Richard has moved beyond self-pity.

Alistair

Perhaps I should be more supportive of him.

Alistair

Of them both.

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

Even so...

...I don't want you getting caught up in Richard and Lulu's shenanigans. Your priority is still helping Quincy get a lock on Cleopatra's time signature.

scene 4 - The Count of Monte Disco

intro [in garden]

Megan

I'm...worried.

About Richard. I think I saw him while I was making a quick trip home to London. And he looked like he was in pretty bad shape.

[go to London 60s Nightclub]

part 1 [before scene]

Richard

Have you come here to lecture me?

Richard

Look, I know I shouldn't still be like this about Cleo.

Richard

But the truth is, she was the first woman I had true feelings for.

Richard

Oh, of course there have been many women who have fallen for *me* across the years...

Richard

But Cleopatra made me feel like I had a purpose.

part 2 [after scene]

Richard

You're right! I do have a purpose!

Richard

And that purpose is to exterminate time vermin like her!

Richard

The reason the Time Society has not taken me seriously is because I haven't taken *it* seriously.

Richard

I don't know what it is about you...

Richard

But somehow you've always been able to help me see what I need to see to move forward.

outro [back in garden]

Richard

Thank you.

You've convinced me that the easiest way to move on is to focus on getting revenge on the woman who broke my heart. And that is exactly what I mean to do.

scene 5 - Castle and a Clout

intro [in garden]

Eleanor

I know it'll be difficult to stomach.

But we'll need to draw out our conversation with Cleopatra for as long as possible so Quincy can try to lock onto her time signature.

[go to Neuschwanstein Paradox]

part 1 [before scene]

Eleanor

Reminiscing over an old date spot that you and Richard shared, Cleo?

Cleopatra

Actually, Ellie, I was hoping I'd find you here.

Cleopatra

I know how much that knightly hunk of yours likes this place.

Eleanor

Keep your dirty little claws off of Geoffrey!

part 2 [after scene]

Cleopatra

I was just thinking. How is it that you managed to pull that fast one on the Time Society?

Eleanor

Excuse me?

Cleopatra

It seemed like you just scoured the globe for a man who would give you the time of day...

Cleopatra

And for no other reason, he gets to be a time traveler!

Cleopatra

At least I am a woman of high standing!

Cleopatra

If anything, I think I am more entitled to be a time traveler than he is!

Eleanor

Listen here, you harlot! The only reason you're able to time travel is because you *traded* for its secrets in exchange for--

outro [back in garden]

Quincy

That's it!!!

I've locked onto Cleopatra's time signature! Thank goodness, too, because things were certainly getting a little too...*ahem*...personal. For my ears at least.

scene 6 - The Italian Robbery

intro [in garden]

Quincy

With Cleopatra's time signature in my system...

I can track where and when she's previously visited! Surely this will turn up some leads.

[go to DaVinci Studio Paradox]

part 1 [before scene]

Quincy

Oh dear, a paradox in Da Vinci's old studio again.

Quincy

I was hoping that retracing Cleopatra's recent steps might give us some insight into her master plan.

Quincy

But I don't like the idea of her being *here*.

Quincy

I'm going to survey the situation.

Quincy

Let me know if anything appears unusual.

part 2 [after scene]

Quincy

THE WHITEPRINTS...THEY'RE GONE!

Quincy

I was working on some schematics for improving our metrical coordinate system processor. In my spare time--which I have little of, nowadays.

Quincy

It's the thing that allows us to have a safe and set course as we travel through spacetime!

Quincy

I meant to return here to lock up my plans until things calmed down.

Quincy

BUT NOW THEY ARE GONE.

outro [back in garden]

Quincy

Yes, of course I double-checked.

And triple-checked. By now you should know I'm the sort to quadruple-check. I'm positive they've been stolen by Cleopatra.

scene 7 - Ending on a Sad Cenote

intro [in garden]

Megan

Quincy might be upset that I am inviting you.

But you've been very supportive of him in the past and a great friend to me, as well. So I know you'll help.

[go to Yucatan Cenote]

part 1 [before scene]

Megan

No matter what, Quincy. I'm here to support you.

Quincy

Those whiteprints contained all of my analysis of the existing mechanisms behind our current coordinate-processing system.

Quincy

Everything from its strengths to its faults.

Quincy

I know that the longer I wait to tell the others, the more chances they'll have to land in danger...

Quincy

But it's because of my callousness that this danger exists.

Quincy

What should I do???

part 2 [after scene]

Megan

You had no way of knowing security would be breached in one of your workshops, Quincy.

Megan

But Alistair and Eleanor will be more upset if they find out you've kept this information from them.

Quincy

  • Sigh*

Megan

And worse, without this information, the rest of the group won't know what danger we're all facing.

Quincy

I know. I know I have to tell everyone.

Quincy

But I am just so scared of all the things that might happen.

Quincy

Can we just sit in this quiet oasis for a moment?

outro [back in garden]

Megan

Thanks, friend--I've got it from here.

I'm going to make sure Quincy warns everyone...but let me spend some time alone with him first.

Chapter 22 - A Road to El DoradoEdit

scene 1 - Uncharted: Quincy's Misfortune

intro [in garden]

Richard

Quincy seems to be in quite a state.

But that chap always looks like he's grasping his schematics for dear life. Do you know what the emergency meeting is about this time?

[go to Chac-Mool Temple]

part 1 [before scene]

Megan

Thanks for coming everyone.

Megan

Quincy might have some insight into figuring out Cleopatra's endgame.

Quincy

Umm...yes...Thank you, Megan.

Quincy

It appears that Cleopatra has stolen the whiteprints to our metrical coordinate system processor and--

Richard

Our what?!

part 2 [after scene]

Quincy

So, you see, a few degrees askew can be the difference between danger and safety in our delicate work.

Alistair

Then we have no other choice but to be more vigilant than ever.

Alistair

Thank you, Quincy, for making us aware of this threat.

Alistair

I'm afraid exercising caution is the only order I have to give right now.

Alistair

Where are Eleanor and Geoffrey???

outro [back in garden]

Quincy

Why didn't Eleanor and Geoffrey turn up?

Thank goodness Alistair didn't ask how the whiteprints were so easily stolen. But if something happened to Eleanor and Geoffrey, it would be my fault!

scene 2 - Knight Time

intro [in garden]

Quincy

Do you think something horrible happened to Eleanor and Geoffrey?

I still haven't been able to contact them. Maybe I should have warned them sooner!

[go to Guinevere's Balcony]

part 1 [before scene]

Geoffrey

While I cannot deny that I have been longing for time alone with you, my Eleanor...

Geoffrey

I still feel uneasy about blocking contact from the Time Society for a day.

Eleanor

But it's the only way we won't be bothered!

Eleanor

Oh Geoffrey, we do so much for this vast universe with the Time Society.

Eleanor

Don't we deserve one day of peace together?

part 2 [after scene]

Eleanor

What is it, Geoffrey?

Geoffrey

I apologize for ruining this beautiful moment with you.

Geoffrey

I suppose my mind is still poisoned with the doubt that I don't belong with the Time Society.

Eleanor

  • Sigh* I suppose I owe you the truth, so you stop worrying about this.

Eleanor

Plainly, you belong in the Time Society because I need you.

Eleanor

I hope you don't think I am being immodest...

Eleanor

But the truth is that the Time Society would be lost without me, and I would be lost without you.

Eleanor

And that makes you a more important member than you'll ever know.

outro [back in garden]

Richard

Aren't you the sneaky little eavesdropper?

And yet, I doubt any lovey-dovey sentiments between those two were important enough for them to miss an emergency meeting.

scene 3 - Promising the Moon

intro [in garden]

Megan

Oh! Thank goodness Eleanor and Geoffrey are safe!

Now perhaps Quincy can finally get some sleep. Let me know how the meeting with Alistair goes?

[go to Pyramid of the Moon Paradox]

part 1 [before scene]

Alistair

Eleanor, have the two of you forgotten that we are in the middle of a time crisis?

Eleanor

There's always going to be some kind of problem for us to clean up, somewhere in time.

Eleanor

And when that's fixed, there's always another.

Eleanor

I apologize for the poor timing of my trip with Geoffrey but I do not apologize for feeling that I have earned some time to devote to MY life.

part 2 [after scene]

Alistair

Eleanor, as an old friend, you should know I did not call you here to bicker with you about poor timing.

Eleanor

Then what is it?

Alistair

Had you attended our earlier *emergency* meeting...

Alistair

...you'd know that Cleopatra has also stolen important whiteprints of our own equipment!

Alistair

The two of you could have been thrown into great danger!

Geoffrey

Do not fear!

Geoffrey

While I appreciate how you care for Eleanor's safety, I assure you I would never let harm come to her!

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

I do not doubt Geoffrey's heart.

But he doesn't realize that fighting disturbances in time is a tougher battle than any foe he's met bravely on the battlefield.

scene 4 - A Raging River

intro [in garden]

Alistair

I'm concerned that Eleanor is being callous.

It's very unlike her. I know she'd get defensive if I confronted her about it so perhaps you could just keep an eye on her?

[go to Rainforest River Passage]

part 1 [before scene]

Geoffrey

This is quite lovely, but should we not be concerned about hunting down that Cleopatra woman?

Eleanor

I suppose I have yet another embarrassing thing to confess to you, Geoffrey.

Geoffrey

You know you can tell me anything, for my feelings for you are unconditional.

Geoffrey

What is it, my Eleanor?

part 2 [after scene]

Eleanor

In all my years of working for the Time Society, I never knew I could detest someone as much as I detest Cleopatra.

Eleanor

And I don't like that she makes me capable of feeling this amount of anger.

Eleanor

I suppose I have been avoiding my duties because of this.

Geoffrey

Eleanor. You are a passionate woman.

Geoffrey

I see it in the work you do, and of course your feelings for me.

Geoffrey

So it is no surprise that you also feel strongly when one so cruel as Cleopatra becomes a burden to your life.

Geoffrey

We all have our nemeses. But you must not let yours win.

outro [back in garden]

Geoffrey

There's no need to hide, friend.

I know you've been concerned about Eleanor. But I promise you, I will protect her all the way to the very edges of the space-time continuum.

scene 5 - A Time to Drill

intro [in garden]

Alistair

It's been awhile since I've been back to London.

And while I wish my return was for a happier reason, I'm afraid I'm simply going to survey my informants for any new leads.

[go to London Clock Tower]

part 1 [before scene]

Alistair

You see, with the original headquarters of the Time Society being in England...

Alistair

There are various outposts all throughout England?s history that are manned by those loyal to us.

Alistair

Their collective duty is to ensure that the history of the Time Society itself is protected.

Alistair

So while we preserve the timeline of the world, they make sure the Society's timeline remains intact.

Alistair

Surely I've mentioned this to you before?

part 2 [after scene]

Alistair

Anyway, enough of the history lesson.

Alistair

Several of my informants within this elite group of spies have reported sightings of Cleopatra carrying an attache case.

Alistair

And being highly protective of it, they were keen to add.

Alistair

I would say it is in our best interests to commandeer this attache case from her.

Alistair

It may very well be where she is keeping our stolen whiteprints!

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

I'm trusting you on this mission.

You are to make retrieving the attache case your utmost priority. Take whatever members of the team you need to make this happen efficiently.

scene 6 - The Case of the Missing Whiteprints

intro [in garden]

Quincy

Using my lock on Cleopatra's Time Signature...

I've managed to hunt her down. I think we should move in as a group to make sure she does not escape with the case!

[go to Attache Case Paradox]

part 1 [before scene]

Alistair

There's no point in running, Cleopatra. We've got you surrounded.

Quincy

We know you've taken our whiteprints, so just hand over the case.

Cleopatra

I'll have you know that this attache case is nothing more than my new favorite souvenir from my recent trip to charming little England.

Cleopatra

I haven't the slightest clue what you're accusing me of stealing.

Cleopatra

But being that I have nothing to hide...

Cleopatra

...if it will put you all at ease, then I suppose there's no harm in letting you take a peek.

part 2 [after scene]

Cleopatra

See? Absolutely no stolen goods being stored here!

Cleopatra

You know, for being travelers of all of time and space, your minds seem to have such limited scopes.

Cleopatra

Here you are, obsessing over some whiteprints and a Victorian attache case...

Cleopatra

...when it's much bigger things--like the history of your country--that you should be concerning yourselves with.

Cleopatra

Now if you'll excuse me...

Alistair

!!!

outro [back in garden]

Quincy

What could she possibly have meant by that???

Caesar warned us about our future and now Cleopatra is warning us about our past. I trust neither, but that doesn't put me any more at ease.

scene 7 - Joust Too Late

intro [in garden]

Eleanor

It's the rifts in Camelot!

Cleopatra must be using them to change the history of Camelot, and effectively rewrite the course of everything in England that followed! We must stop her!

[go to Jousting Tournament]

part 1 [before scene]

Alistair

IT'S A TRAP!

Quincy

Cleopatra must have rigged our Time Machine to drop us right in the middle of a jousting tournament.

Quincy

That jouster is running right at Eleanor! Oh my God, she doesn't see it coming!

Eleanor

!!!

Geoffrey

My love!

part 2 [after scene]

Alistair

Geoffrey's been hit!

Eleanor

Geoffrey...you're...you're okay. Please say you're okay.

Geoffrey

Thank you for letting me travel with you, my Eleanor.

Geoffrey

You showed me more than just the world...

Eleanor

Geoffrey...what are you doing...?

Geoffrey

Eleanor...I...

Geoffrey

...

Eleanor

GEOFFREY!

Quincy

Is he...?

Eleanor

GEOFFREY!!! YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME!

Alistair

Eleanor...

Alistair

...Geoffrey's gone.

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

I know you need time to grieve.

We all do. Let Eleanor be for now and...I'll try to think of something.

Chapter 23 - Apocalypse? How?Edit

scene 1 - Le Morte de Geoffrey

intro [in garden]

Alistair

You've always been the best listener of the bunch.

And you make people feel at ease. I think Eleanor would appreciate you offering your shoulder for her to cry on.

[go to Lady Of The Lake]

part 1 [before scene]

Eleanor

  • Sniffle*

Eleanor

Hello, friend.

Eleanor

I suppose you're here to give your condolences.

part 1 [after scene]

Eleanor

  • Sniffle*

Eleanor

As a time traveler, I understand that individual people are tiny compared to the expanse of all time and space.

Eleanor

I'll be fine. Perhaps not now, but eventually.

Eleanor

I just need some time to myself.

outro [back in garden]

Megan

Poor Eleanor.

I can't imagine what I would do if something happened to Quincy! Eleanor must have incredible inner strength to be able to keep herself together through all this.

scene 2 - Arctic Giza Riverfront

intro [in garden]

Alt-Alistair

Oh good, you're here!

Welcome, new recruit, to the Time Society! You'll be helping us protect history by finding objects out of place in time!

[go to Arctic Giza]

part 1 [before scene]

Alt-Alistair

First, we must attend to a problem in Arctic Egypt. Consider this your crash course in time travel!

Alt-Alistair

How rude of me! I'm Alistair Wells, and I'll be mentoring your induction into the Time Society. But we're in Giza for a different matter.

Alt-Alistair

The disruption here is only the latest in a series of strange happenings across time. Let's get this mess sorted and find what's to blame.

part 2 [after scene]

Alt-Alistair

Excellent work! You're quickly proving yourself to be a real asset to the Society.

Alt-Alistair

Hmmm, some of these displaced objects look quite familiar.

Alt-Alistair

I'm going to have some analysis conducted based on this supposition.

outro [back in garden]

Alt-Alistair

You enjoy your garden while I investigate further.

I shall return to collect you when it's time for your next assignment!

scene 3 - Dreaming of a White Desert

intro [in garden]

Alistair

What in the devil???

You're saying I gave you your induction orientation all over again? And Ancient Egypt was snowed over??? AND I had a moustache? Why, that's downright impossible!

[go to Saint Basil's Cathedral]

part 1 [before scene]

Alistair

Well, there IS one possibility so dangerous that it would cause such a catastrophic relapse in time.

Alistair

That is, if a fellow time traveler were to go back in time to alter past events in his or her own timeline...

Alistair

...not only would the time-space continuum begin to fracture, causing unusual phenomena...

Alistair

but other time travelers may experience accidental doubling-back to past events in *their* own timelines!

Alistair

I sometimes have trouble wrapping my mind around how it all works.

Alistair

Which is why we have strict rules to simply avoid the situation entirely.

Alistair

But who could have caused it???

part 2 [after scene]

Alistair

Bloody Nora!

Alistair

You don't suppose that Eleanor could have done something rash--could she?

Alistair

In some sort of desperate attempt to prevent Geoffrey's death?

Alistair

As a veteran member of the Time Society she should know that such an act brings on dire consequences to not just the person responsible...

Alistair

but the very fabric of the universe as well!

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

I do hope that I am wrong.

But what you experienced is very alarming indeed. Sit tight for now, and don't alert the others until we get the facts.

scene 4 - All the Knight's Horses

intro [in garden]

Alistair

We should confirm my hunch before making any accusations.

Please keep a close eye on Eleanor--but be very discrete.

[go to Steed Stables Paradox]

part 1 [before scene]

Eleanor

Geoffrey? Are you here, my love???

Eleanor

Geoffrey?

part 2 [after scene]

Eleanor

Oh! YOU'RE here...

Eleanor

You, these horses, and this stupid paradox.

Eleanor

I thought I told you I needed some time alone.

Eleanor

I don't appreciate that suspicious look that you're giving me.

Eleanor

I think it's time for you to leave me to grieve in peace.

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

She seemed to be looking for Geoffrey???

Back where we'd met him? Well, turning back the clock is not that simple! I don't have time to explain now but let's just say this is all very bad news.

scene 5 - This Can't Bode Well

intro [in garden]

Megan

I'm glad you're so resilient.

I haven't the heart to accuse Eleanor of something as terrible as trying to rewrite her own history. Not after what she's just been through.

[go to Ta Prohm]

part 1 [before scene]

Eleanor

  • Sniffle*

Alistair

You must know, Eleanor, that we are all incredibly sad about what happened to Geoffrey.

Alistair

But you must tell the truth. Did you break the rules of the Time Society?

Eleanor

Is it not our jobs to make the world a better place?

Eleanor

Well, the world is clearly better with a hero like Geoffrey around. He was meant to do great things!

part 2 [after scene]

Richard

Even I cannot believe you are trying to justify your actions, Eleanor!

Eleanor

Hmph!

Richard

I would be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to redo my own past.

Richard

At least I could argue that doing so would help preserve history!

Richard

Which is a far stronger justification that just bringing back an ordinary man.

Eleanor

How dare you!

Richard

Oh come on, everyone here knows Geoffrey was no great historical figure compared to Cleopatra.

Richard

But I knew I couldn't just erase my problems by going back in time and pretending it never happened!

outro [back in garden]

Alistair

I must admit, Richard is right.

I would not have been so harsh with Eleanor--but I respect that he upheld at least *some* laws of the Time Society. Even when things didn't go his way.

scene 6 - A Brief History of the Crime

intro [in garden]

Quincy

Richard didn't need to yell at Eleanor...

...but he's right to be furious. A Time Agent traveling back to his or her past to alter subsequent events is forbidden for important reasons.

[go to Merlins Lab]

part 1 [before scene]

Quincy

Unfortunately, the last case of a Time Agent attempting to rewrite his own history was ages ago before I even joined the Time Society.

Quincy

I'll need to dig into the archives in order to fully grasp how such a case can be resolved.

Quincy

Let's take whatever research materials you think will be helpful, before they get absorbed by the crack in the fabric of the universe.

part 2 [after scene]

Quincy

Oh yes! I suppose *a crack in the fabric of the universe* is a legitimate reason for you to look alarmed.

Quincy

I didn't mean to be trite but that's the best way to explain to most folks what's happened.

Quincy

Of course, it's a actually little bit more complicated than that...

Quincy

but let's just say that time and space and everything else in our world has gone topsy-turvy...

Quincy

...and it's up to us to fix it before it's too late.

Quincy

What you saw in Egypt is likely just a glimpse at the strange happenings in store.

outro [back in garden]

Quincy

As for catching Cleopatra...

That will have to be put on the back burner. If we don't act quickly, those drastic changes to history may become permanent.

scene 7 - Back to the Alternate Future

intro [in garden]

Quincy

I have a hunch.

We're going to have to revisit a place I never thought we'd see again. I'll try to explain when we get there.

[go to Ruins Of Florence Paradox]

part 1 [before scene]

Quincy

Yes, I thought we might find a paradox here now.

Quincy

Do you remember the first time we came here?

Quincy

We thought this was an accidental glimpse of the grim future that would occur if we didn't catch Cleopatra in time.

Quincy

But what if these ruins had nothing to do with Cleopatra?

Quincy

What if we accidentally stumbled upon the effects of an action the Eleanor had not yet known she was going to take?

part 2 [after scene]

Quincy

I've conducted some scans at these coordinates.

Quincy

As far as our database can calculate, Florence is not supposed to fall into ruin like this.

Quincy

Some rewriting of history had to have occurred in order for us to be able to see this place.

Quincy

I'm very concerned that this alternate future has less to do with some villain...

Quincy

...and is more connected to what our own friend Eleanor has done.

outro [back in garden]

Quincy

I must apologize for needing to rush home.

There is something about looking at alternate worlds that makes my stomach churn. As if even my body knows that such places do not belong in history.
